Une Place à Prendre // Casual Vacancy

Le nouveau roman de J.K Rowling, "Une Place à Prendre", est une vraie déception. Honnêtement, avoir publié ce livre AVANT les Harry Potter, il ne se serait même pas vendu. Des bribes de détails qui s'étendent sur des pages et des pages, chaque fois entrecoupés pour avoir chaque version de la vie de chacun des personnages. Pour quelqu'un ayant atteint le "Grand Public" en vendant son histoire de sorciers à grande échelle, elle n'a définitivement pas répété l'expérience avec son tout dernier. Sérieusement, bien qu'on puisse comprendre, vu le monde imaginaire qu'elle a auparavant sû nous rendre si réel, que Rowling est une fan des détails et de l'environnement et qu'elle sait très bien élaborer un univers dans lequels ces personnages peuvent évoluer, ce roman-ci n'est constitué que de cela: des détails. Cela ne fait pas une histoire qui se tienne et qui vaille la peine d'être lue par des milliers de gens! La mort d'un homme, et qui va prendre sa place au conseil de la paroisse, c'est tout! Pas de quoi nous tenir en haleine pendant 680 pages, loin de là... Je n'aime pas le fait de ne pas finir un livre, mais ça m'a vraiment pris tout mon petit change pour ne pas mourir d'ennui en parcourant celui-ci. Bref, un vrai flop de la part de Rowling, espérons qu'elle sache se rattraper.

J.K. Rowling's new novel, "Casual Vacancy" is a complete deception. Honestly, if she had published this book BEFORE the Harry Potter serie, it would not even have been sold. Details and parts of the story extend over pages, each time cut short to get each character's version and actions. From someone who has so well reached out to the "Grand Public" while selling her wizards' story around the globe, she definitely did not repeat the experience this time. Seriously, even though we may undertand, considering the imaginary world she so realistically described to her readers, that Rowling is a fan of details and surrounding elements, that is all this novel is about; details. But they do not represent why a story should be read by thousands of people. A man's death and the search for the person who will take his place at the parish council, that's it! Not something to keep us entertained during 680 pages! I don't like the idea of stopping my reading in the middle of a book, but it really took all I had not the fall asleep while reading this one. In short, a total "fail" from the author. Let's just hope she'll know how to catch up next time!
